Allied EMS Systems, Inc. offers leadership in
EMS education to our northern Michigan communities in a number of
ways:
We are an American Heart Association authorized community center
for CPR and AED training. As such, we offer regularly scheduled
CPR and First Aid classes at the Allied EMS Systems, Inc. corporate
offices in Harbor Springs and on-site courses for larger groups.
Last year, we offered over 1,000 hours of training and CPR to
the community. Find out more information about
CPR/First Aid classes,
view our calendar
of EMS/CPR classes or register for classes by downloading
a Registration Form (PDF format).
We offer Medical First Responder, EMT—Basic, and EMT—Specialist
courses as a recognized Program Sponsor for the Michigan Department
of Community Health; members of Allied's staff frequently assist
in teaching in the paramedic program at North Central Michigan
College in Petoskey. A number of our paramedics also hold Michigan
Instructor Coordinator licenses and offer hundreds of hours of
combined teaching and field experience to their students. Taking
a course from Allied guarantees not only excellence in instruction,
but the benefits of established excellence in field practice.
Students in Basic, Specialist, and Paramedic programs are required
to complete clinical experiences in both the Emergency Department
and on the ambulances at Allied EMS Systems, Inc. EMS

Allied EMS is also committed to helping area emergency service providers maintain their licenses by offering regular continuing education credits in several ways. All of our initial EMS classes offer continuing education credits that vary according to the topic under discussion in that session. Review the 2008 EMT-Basic Continuing Education schedule in Emmet County. In addition, Allied is a state-approved Continuing Education Program sponsor, which allows us to offer continuing education classes more easily and flexibly through our "Breakfast CEs with Allied" program in which Allied instructors visit contracting organizations on a regular basis to offer personalized CE instruction. Contact the Education Coordinator for more information.
The Education staff at Allied EMS also visits schools
to provide CPR training to middle school
and high school students.
Allied paramedics recently participated in Phase II of the MI First Stepps Grant Program, in conjunction with Michigan State University/Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies. In these exercises, paramedics were evaluated in three separate pediatric scenarios, using state-of-the-art manikins, to provide a baseline for on-going training that will be customized to our needs by KCMS staff. Our thanks to Dr. William Fales of KCMS for his hard work in bringing this important educational resource to us in Northern Michigan. (Photos below)
